Darwin2009 is the name of a project gathering actors of Liège' cultural stage in the framework of the bicentury of Charles Darwin in 2009. This project will feature various events on related themes but using diverse forms.

"The proper of Man ?" - Préhistosite of Ramioul
Underground exhibition in the cave of Ramioul , fruit of the confrontation between an artist (Werner Mornon) and a Prehistory specialist (Marcel Otte, University of Liège ). A double vision to approach this big question: what makes the "proper "of man?  

"Darwin, his life, his work" - Aquarium-Muséum

An exhibition exploring the life, work and thinking of Charles Darwin: the journey on the Beagle, the emphasis on his "natural laboratory", the archipelago of Galapagos, the discovery of the first clues on the progressive evolution of living world, the thinking and building of the natural selection theory, the publication of "Origin of species", the reactions of the scientific world and of the society, and the influence on the Belgian scientists P.J. and E. Van Beneden. An exhibition bringing the necessary knowledge to understand questions of permanent actuality.

This exhibition on primate diversity will highlight the numerous species of primates (more than 280!), remarkable by their morphologies, habitats, and behaviours. The conservation of this diversity will also be a central theme of the exhibition, directed to children, adults, wishing to touch a large variety of publics: families, schools, scientists,… Through didactic panels, video and computer mounts, sensory experiments (tactile, auditive, visual), the visitor will be immersed and analyze the primate universe.

A series of movie sessions on primates and human evolution (fiction, documentary, cartoon) will be presented in collaboration with the association “Les Grignoux” on one of their movies theatres " le Churchill ", " Le Parc " ou " Sauvenière ".

The archeologists of the Préhistosite escort you along an underground, intuitive, and scientific artistic route in the heart of the cave of Ramioul , re-opened in his entirety for the circumstance.
Animations/"Such a primate " - Préhistosite of Ramioul
An afternoon of visit and animations in the Prehistosite of Ramioul on the Theme of the Origin of Man. Ideally in complement of the guided tout of the exhibition ‘Diversity of Primates, in the University of Liege , Institute of Zoology (2h) Children over 8 years old.
Didactic day /"Why I ate my father" - Préhistosite of Ramioul
A daytrip around the book of Roy Lewis, to live and question oneself on the great human inventions. Animations, (for teenagers and adults), role playing, and reflexion on evolution.
Didactic day /"Don't play monkey!" - Préhistosite of Ramioul
Various practical animations (the evolution puzzle, the Chrismas “sapiens”, Who does What, The great inventions), are proposed in the experimental village to understand the theories on ours origins, in complement of our usual activities.

Animations and guided tours on “the evolution and adaptation of animals to natural habitats". On reservation only. For adults, elementary, secondary, and high-schools. With didactic booklet.

1. Animations for children and didactic booklet for elementary school. The Maison de la Science proposes guided tours on reservations, especially adapted to elementary school children.
